Lecture capture

Lecture capture gives access to audio and screen recordings after the session has ended. Find out how it works and which lecture theatres it is in.

What is lecture capture?

Lecture capture records audio and projector-based lecture content for students to revisit once teaching has ended. 

It is available in more than 50 lecture theatres across the University.

Guides for students

If your unit has opted in to automatic publishing, your recording will be available on your Moodle unit homepage within two working days.

If your unit hasn’t opted for automatic publishing, then your tutors will release those they think most useful via a link on your Moodle unit page.

If these links prompt you to log in, enter your username in the format [email protected], such as [email protected], and your university password.

Captions

Lectures are captured using the Echo360 system and made available via Moodle.

Lecture captures will include automatic captions. The accuracy of the captions can be affected by audio quality, a rapid speaking voice and the use of technical or specialised language.

We aim to make our content accessible to as many people as possible. As such, we are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) Level AA.

If you need help with accessibility of live lectures or accurate captions as a reasonable adjustment, you can contact Disability Support.

If you identify an inappropriate caption please contact your tutor and let them know the time of the problem within the recording.
