About this service

We’ve partnered with We Are Survivors and Greater Manchester Rape Crisis to run a monthly drop-in for people seeking information and support regarding sexual violence.

The drop-in will be staffed by specially trained workers who understand the impact of sexual violence. They have the experience and knowledge to talk you through the support available, both in the local area and from the University, and will listen to you without judgment or prejudice.

The drop-in is available to anyone, whether you have experienced something yourself or you are worried about someone else. You can talk about something that has happened recently or in the past, and you will have the option to request a private conversation or simply take information away to contact the services in your own time.

There is no pressure to make a police report or disclose to the University if you choose to visit the drop-in. The drop-in is a way to find out more about the support available. Staff from We Are Survivors and Greater Manchester Rape Crisis do not work for the University, giving you the opportunity to access support that is completely independent from our own in-house services.

If you wish to access the University’s support services you can contact the Student Welfare team through our Report and Support platform. The team are specialist staff who can provide impartial and non-judgemental support and discuss any other issues associated with your experience. This might be financial support, help with accommodation or assessment mitigation. You don’t need to report the incident formally but you can get more information about your options.

Upcoming dates

The drop-in will take place monthly in the Business School, on the ground floor by the main entrance. Look out for an information stall with printed materials and pull up banners with logos for the services.
