Important notice: new phishing phone call scam
We have received reports of fraudulent calls from individuals posing as senior Man Met finance staff, requesting personal and financial information from students. Please note that genuine finance team members will never ask for such details over the phone or over email. We will always request that you make payments via your own Flywire account and will never ask you to make a bank transfer.
To safeguard yourself, do not share any sensitive information over the phone, and inform us of any suspicious activity immediately.
If in doubt, please call or email our team or visit our office in All Saints (3rd floor, room 3.15) to doublecheck.

Be fraud aware
You should only use our recommended payment methods to pay your fees, as we follow strict guidelines to keep your money safe. In today’s digital age, criminals often target students for various money-related fraud schemes. Our Be Fraud Aware webpage details precautions you can take to safeguard yourself from such risks.
Being involved in tuition fee payment fraud not only will disrupt your academic progress but can also lead to legal troubles, emotional distress, financial repercussions, and potential withdrawal from the University.

Payment methods via Flywire
- Direct Debit – Setting up a Direct Debit allows Manchester Met to automatically take payments from a nominated UK bank account on set dates.
- Auto Card Pay – Auto Card Pay is an alternative way to pay your fees in instalments. Regular automatic credit or debit card payments can be made by registering a UK card, and the cardholder’s email address and contact details. This ensures your account is never overdue. Automatic reminder emails are sent to the cardholder 5 days before the payment dates and again after the payment has been collected.
- International Currency Payments – Signing up for an International Currency Payment Plan allows you to continue making instalment payments in your home currency, throughout your time at the university. Automatic reminder emails will be sent 10 and 5 days before the payment dates to allow you sufficient time to pay by your chosen method.
For security reasons, the University does not accept cash payments. We advise against students carrying large amounts of cash. If you plan to bring cash into the UK for other purposes, be aware of the legal limits and the need to declare them. Further information regarding this can be found on the Government website.

The exchange rates I am being offered by Flywire are too high, what should I do?
Flywire provides both local currency and sterling payment options, each with its associated foreign exchange (FX) rates at the time of payment. Comparing these rates to the Bank base rate via Google might not provide an accurate comparison, as there are additional factors to consider, like exchange rate differences and bank charges. To get the most accurate picture of your payment, check with your bank to understand the complete cost. If you require further clarification regarding this, you can reach out to Flywire.

Why is Flywire asking me to select another territory or payment method when paying by card?
Flywire may request you to choose another territory or payment method for the following reasons:
Sanctioned Country: If you are attempting to make a payment from a country that is under sanction or restricted by international regulations, Flywire may not be able to process your payment using the selected territory or payment method.
Unsupported Payment Method: Some payment methods or cards may not be available for certain countries due to local regulations or agreements. For instance, certain credit cards like Amex may have limited acceptance in specific regions.
