Introduction

Chaplains work closely with faith societies and university staff and there are a number of reasons why students access their support – to discuss matters of faith and spirituality, for a listening ear when life feels challenging or for advice or advocacy.

How to access support

There are various ways for you to meet and talk with a chaplain or faith leader while studying at Manchester Met.

  • Manchester Met chaplaincy

Our chaplaincy space is based in the Cavendish Building.

Home to our refurbished Muslim Prayer Rooms and chaplaincy offices, students of faith and no faith can speak with our chaplains and Student Services staff to access a wide variety of welfare support.

The chaplaincy space is open during building opening hours.

You can email us at [email protected].

  • University chaplains

We have a multi-faith chaplaincy team, which includes our directly employed chaplains, and chaplains of other faiths and denominations from external organisations. They are available to support students and staff of all faiths and none.

Our chaplains are located in the chaplaincy offices in the Cavendish Building, alongside our Prayer Rooms.

    We have four university chaplains:

Please feel free to email our chaplains directly or you can contact the Chaplaincy Service at [email protected].

  • Visitor chaplains

In addition to our university chaplains, we also work closely with several external faith organisations. Representatives of these organisations work with us on campus. To contact one of our visitor chaplains, please contact the Chaplaincy Service at [email protected].

    Catholic chaplains

Fr. Phil Harrison SJ is a Catholic Priest from Bristol. After studying English Literature at the University of Leeds he worked as a full-time volunteer with the homeless in Glasgow and people with learning disabilities in Liverpool. His formation as a priest included working as an English teacher in Scotland, studying theology in Latin America and spending four years learning biblical languages. As a chaplain he enjoys running a walking club for students, leading scripture workshops and having conversations about faith with staff and students.

Fr. Dushan Croos SJ, graduated in Physics with French from the University of Manchester, and entered the Jesuits, the Society of Jesus, a couple of years later. He has worked as a Chaplain in a secondary school, then a university and later with young adults in London and online. He also speaks French and some Spanish.
