  • If you have received an award

Congratulations! You can download a shareable banner to celebrate your results from the online results portal.

If you would like to see how your degree has been calculated, you can use the degree classification calculator.

    Graduation

We will be in touch as soon as possible with more information on your July graduation ceremony and how to register your attendance.

Please check your emails for updates.

Your certificate will be sent to you by post in a few months.

    Award documents

Certificates are not handed out at graduation. For most students, they are posted in September to the permanent address on your student record.

If you gain an award at any other time of year, we aim to process and post your certificate within eight weeks of your final results.

    Address changes

You must ensure your permanent address is up-to-date so your award certificate is posted to a secure address you can access after you have graduated.

A term-time address is where you live during the academic year while studying. If your term-time and permanent address are the same, it is important to note this on your record.

A permanent address is where you live the rest of the year. It may be with family or where you are moving after university. We send your certificate to the permanent address on your student record. The permanent address can be any address you consider your permanent residence and that you will have access to after you have received your final results.

If your award documents are sent to a student house you’ve moved out of, or an overseas address when you’re now permanently living in the UK, there may be a delay of several months until you can receive your documents. This may cause you problems when applying for visas, jobs or further study.

To change your permanent address, please contact the Student Hub (studenthub@mmu.ac.uk).

    • UK students: Please state clearly your door number, street name, town/city and postcode.
    • International students: Please state your full address including country and a PO box number if you have an international address. Addresses without a PO Box are routinely returned to us.
    Name changes

You must ensure the name on the student record system is your full legal name, including any middle names, as this will be displayed on your certificate.

If the name on your award documents does not match your legal ID, this can cause problems with visas, jobs, and further study.

Please contact the Student Hub at studenthub@mmu.ac.uk with a photo of your ID document and ask them to update your name in the student record.

For transgender (including non-binary) students, we suggest that your legal name is printed on your certificate and transcript to avoid complications with job offers and visa requests. If you have updated your name in the student records system to your chosen name and require your legal name to be printed on your certificate and transcript, please contact personaldatachange@mmu.ac.uk.

The deadline for address and name changes for summer award certificates is 30 June.

    Appeals

If you believe there has been an error in the conduct of an assessment, which casts reasonable doubt on the validity of the result, you may wish to submit an appeal.

You can also appeal against an unsuccessful evidenced extension request or academic misconduct decision. You cannot submit an appeal because you are not happy with your results or think you deserve a higher mark. See the allowable grounds for appeal.

If you feel that you have allowable grounds for an appeal, you must submit your appeal within 14 days of the publication of your results. The outcome of a successful appeal is usually a reassessment attempt. See the guidance on how to make an appeal.

Please note, if you are a foundation or level 4 student and you have met the requirements to pass the year, you will not be able to resit any failed assessments unless you submit a successful appeal.

    Deferred assessment

We understand that sometimes things happen beyond your control, such as a medical emergency or bereavement, that could have an impact on your assessments.

If you feel this applies to you and your assessed performance has been significantly affected, check the assessments and results guidance.

The guidance covers the procedure for submitting a request, including acceptable reasons and appropriate evidence.

  • Repeat next year without attendance

    Enrolment and induction

As you have not successfully passed your current level of study, you are not permitted to start the next level of your programme. This means you cannot undertake any higher level units until you have undertaken reassessment during the next academic year and reached an acceptable standard.

However, you must still enrol online to study the units you have failed. If you do not enrol online, you will be recorded as having left the course and will not be able to take your reassessments. You will receive further information on enrolment and induction when this becomes available in due course. You must check the relevant Unit Moodle page at the beginning of the academic year for submission dates and details of your assessments.

If you are studying at one of our collaborative partner institutions, please contact your home institution for further information on enrolment.

    Keep in touch

It’s your responsibility to maintain contact with your tutors and to find out the details of your resits, tests and hand-in dates. We strongly advise you to check your resit schedule early on to ensure that the necessary units and elements of assessment are accurate. If you have difficulty with any of the above, please contact the Student Hub.

    International compliance

If you are an international student and require a visa to study, please review this information for guidance on how any changes to your academic circumstances may impact your visa.

    Fees, loans and bursaries

As you are repeating without attendance, you will not be able to access face-to-face teaching, but you will be able to access other university services and campus facilities. Because you are not attending classes, you don’t pay tuition fees. Consequently, you’re not eligible for a bursary from Manchester Met and, in most cases, Student Finance don’t help fund living costs if you don’t attend university. This means you’re not entitled to loans and grants. Contact Student Finance England for guidance or chat to our Student Financial Support team for more information.

If you wish to be reassessed with attendance instead, please complete this form.

If you choose to be reassessed with attendance, you will need to pay the full unit tuition fee for each failed unit.
