What this means for you
Your education and success are important to us.
The majority of teaching and other activities will go ahead as planned on these dates. If you do miss any learning or assessments, there will be no detriment to your results.

Will lectures or practical sessions be rescheduled if they are cancelled?
Every effort will be made to find alternative cover for teaching sessions or reschedule cancelled classes - either on-campus or online. If this is not possible, we will seek to deliver alternative provision covering the same learning outcomes and make the necessary adjustments to assessments.

Will I get my work back within the normal turnaround time?
We will make every effort to ensure that coursework is returned as normal. However, it is possible that some pieces of work may be subject to a delay and we will do our best to keep you informed if we think this is going to be the case.

Will my marks be affected?
Where classes cannot be reallocated or rescheduled, adjustments will be made to marking schemes to ensure there is no detriment to your studies.

Will my attendance record be affected by the strike action?
No, your attendance record will not be affected as a result of cancelled classes. This also applies to those with a Tier 4 or Student Visa.

Will I need to submit an Evidenced Extension Request?
For most students, there should be no need to submit an evidenced extension request because of strike action. However, if you feel that you have been disproportionately affected, then please take a look our self-certification scheme, which provides for a short-term extension for eligible assessments.

If I want to make a complaint following the strike action, what should I do?
We are doing everything possible to ensure there is no disruption to your studies because of strike action. If you are not satisfied and wish to consider making a complaint you can do so.
First, you should raise your concerns with your head of department or programme leader. They will have an informal discussion with you and can offer help, guidance and support. If you are still unhappy, you may wish to submit a formal complaint to the University. Visit the student complaints procedure page for more information.
