-
How do I book onto a course?
View the full list of upcoming workshops on Career Hub. You will be asked to log in using your student ID number and password.
-
I can't commit to a full course, can I get any other help with my academic writing?
We run lots of standalone workshops, which cover similar topics. You can also book one-to-one appointments with any of our specialist tutors.
-
I prefer to study independently, are there any resources I can use?
Take a look at some of our online resources, including those we use across The Writing Project courses.
-
I'm not sure what course is best for me, what should I do?
If you are unsure which course would be the most beneficial, you can always book a one-to-one appointment with a member of the Study Skills team. Bring along a piece of your writing to really get the most from your session.
-
Can I book onto more than one course at the same time?
We do not recommend it. See how the contents of one course suits you, and then you can do another course after that. Talk to your Writing Project Tutor if you are not sure which one to do next. The courses run all year, so there is no rush to complete everything at once.
-
The course I want to go on is fully booked, what can I do?
We are sorry to hear that. Do not worry. The first thing to do is check if there is another course commencing on a different day and time. We stagger course dates to try and suit all students’ timetables. If there is no suitable start date, you could always choose a different Writing Project course this term, and do that one next term!
-
I have signed up to a webinar course, but have not received a link to join, what do I do?
Do not worry. We send out the links to our webinar classes an hour before the class starts. This is to give as many people as possible the chance to sign up. If it is less than an hour until the course starts and you do not have a link, please email writingproject@mmu.ac.uk
-
Will the Writing Project sessions appear on my timetable?
No. However, the day and time are the same each week of the course. If you are not sure, the dates are on the career hub event page where you signed up.
-
Can I book multiple occasions of the same course and attend some from each course?
No. We ask that you please do not do this, as it limits spaces for other students. We do ask students to be respectful of the limited number of spaces we have to offer. Please email writingproject@mmu.ac.uk if you have special circumstances.
-
How do I earn Rise points for completing a Study Skills short course?
You will earn 40 Rise points for each Study Skills short course you attend and 5 Rise points for each workshop you attend. These points are automatically credited to your Rise account and those who participated in the autumn term will already have received their points.
