Information about CPD opportunities that are available to staff teaching Manchester Metropolitan University accredited courses at our collaborative partner institutions
Routes to Gain Recognised Tutor Status (RTS)
We offer two different ways to achieve Recognised Tutor Status (RTS) through support from the University Teaching Academy:

Learning, Teaching and Assessment in He | Taught Module
This is a taught, 30 credit unit at level 7, which is suitable for colleagues new to teaching in higher education.
Learning, Teaching & Assessment in Higher Education (LTA)
This is a taught, 30 credit unit at level 7, which is suitable for colleagues new to teaching in higher educationFees for PGC LTHE and MA HE
Fees that apply to external participants on the PGC LTHE and MA HE run by the University Teaching Academy -
RTS | Independent Study
This is an independent study resource to support Manchester Metropolitan University partnership institutions to gain Recognised Tutor Status (RTS).
A fee of £300 will be charged for assessing and processing your application. If you encounter any difficulties, please contact utacpd@mmu.ac.uk.
If you wish to pay via invoice, please also email the following information to utacpd@mmu.ac.uk
- Your organisation.
- Address.
- Purchase order number.
- Description of items (applicants names) including total amount to be paid.
- Contact name.
- Contact email.
- Phone number contact.
When you’ve completed your application, send it to us by email at utacpd@mmu.ac.uk. You will then be forwarded information on how to pay.
We aim to review and return feedback on written applications within a maximum of 6 weeks of the date you submit your application. If you are successful, you will receive a certificate of successful completion as evidence of you meeting RTS requirements. If you are unsuccessful, you will receive written feedback and the opportunity to make one re-submission with no charge. There are no limits as to how many times someone could reapply, but this would require further fees to be paid.
