New to Teaching (NewT) short course
Introduction
New to Teaching (NewT) is a short course open to all colleagues in student-facing roles, academics, professional services, and practice educators and others involved in teaching Manchester Met students.
Doctoral students are encouraged to take the NewT before they begin to teach, to prepare for taking on teaching responsibilities.
The course comprises four webinars, each of which has some self-study which participants are asked to complete in advance of the sessions.
Curriculum content
The NewT curriculum introduces key concepts such as planning and designing, teaching, assessment, supporting learning, inclusive practice, and reflective practice.
The design of the course is experiential, which means that you will have the opportunity to think, plan, do and reflect. NewT offers a guided route to D1 professional recognition (PSF 2023) through Manchester Met’s scheme for eligible candidates.
Please note that you will need to meet the eligibility requirements for the scheme to make a recognition claim.
