MCR Met Moves

The Moves app is here to motivate you to get active and earn rewards.  Build points through exercise, including running, walking, swimming and cycling. It’s completely free and easy to sign up - simply enter your details and connect your tracker and away you go.

Over time you will accumulate points which you can then exchange for a variety of rewards, such as coffees, cake, water bottles, branded merchandise and lots more.  There’s lots of fun challenges you can join too, which allow you to earn bonus points.

  • Get connected

    • Download the moves app by searching Moves+ in the app store or google play.
    • You will need to sign up using your @mmu.ac.uk email address. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail (please check your junk mail).
    • You can then link a tracker to the app to record your activities.
  • Trackers

    Apple Health: Installed on all iOS devices, this app tracks steps, running and cycling and integrates well with other apps and devices including apple watch and Strava.

    Fitbit: A popular wearable that can track steps, running, cycling and swimming dependent on the device type.

    Garmin: Garmin connect can be used for tracking, analysing and sharing health and fitness activities when paired with your Garmin device.

    Google Fit: Available on most Android phones, this app will track steps, running and cycling.

    Strava: For the runners and cyclists, this app also integrates directly with Apple Health.

  • Points

    You can earn points through the Moves + app through walking, running, cycling and swimming. 

    100 steps = 0.5 points

    1 mile running = 25 points

    1 mile cycling = 8 points

    100m swimming = 3 points

  • Rewards

    There are a variety of rewards that can be redeemed through the Moves + app ranging from MetMoves merchandise to free hot drinks and breakfast pastries. Keep an eye on what rewards are available in the app. 

    Rewards can be redeemed from the MMU Sport Office (Business School 1.19) or specific catering outlets across campus. 

    Rewards are subject to availability.

  • Challenges

    There are regular challenges that are set within the app with each lasting for a limited amount of time. Challenges cover a variety of different activities and are a great way to earn yourself extra points whilst staying active. 

    You can only enter one challenge per activity type at once - e.g. you cannot enter two cycling challenges at the same time but you can enter a cycling and a running challenge.

  • Community

    Join groups and invite your friends to download the Moves+ app to earn bonus points. Compete against your friends by seeing who can top the monthly leader-board. 

    You can join different groups with your friends, colleagues and families.
