Manchester Metropolitan has been working for some time to improve the student experience with the aim of making a step change to student retention and progression. The underlying factors contributing to timely academic progression for all students are likely to be a combination of the following:

Manchester Met academic community commitment
Our Academic Community Commitment explains how everybody at Manchester Met works to help you to succeed and sets out clear standards of behaviour that we expect of one another. It has been created jointly by the University and the Students’ Union, in consultation with our students.
Student union support and advice
The Advice Centre is where you’ll find a listening ear and experienced, trained staff offering specialist, student-centred advice. It’s also free and totally independent.

Manchester Met programme management plan: induction and tansition
This document can help programme teams to develop and update their Induction and Transition plan, to delegate tasks across the team as appropriate, and to support the Continuous Monitoring and Improvement process. The questions in italic could form the basis for the agenda for a programme team planning meeting.
What Works? initiative student retention and success
The What Works? initiative published its final research report ‘Building student engagement and belonging in Higher Education at a time of change’ in July 2012.
