This module introduces the students to contemporary developments in the field of technological advancements and societal development driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0. It reviews the disruptive and transformative technologies, which are underpinning Industry 4.0 and are currently changing and developing new socio-economic, political and societal models

Business statistics and data modelling are the core elements of business analytics. The overarching theme of the module will be to explore how various statistical and modelling techniques can aid business decision-making. The module will equip students with skills and knowledge relating to the handling and analysis of data typically generated by organisations around the globe. Consideration will also be given to the factors driving adoption and on-going usage of management information derived from statistical analysis. The module is based around Microsoft Excel, a go-to data handling and analysis tool for analytics professionals worldwide.

Students will be introduced to the concept of self-service business intelligence and what impact this will have on their future career path.

Students will receive a firm grounding in the most widely utilised statistical techniques in modern organisations.

The module is to introduce students to the area of Strategic Information Systems used in organisations. The aim is to understand the nature of problems and issues faced by organisations at the operational and strategic level, and examine how Information Systems and Information Technology can help to overcome such issues.

Data is considered to be the "new oil" in today's digital world. This module examines the nature of data and introduces students to current methods as well as new models used to effectively and safely maintain and manage the various types of data. Students will receive the awareness and skills necessary to optimise storage and use of data resources for both operational and strategic purposes.

Data description is the most important element of business analytics. Effective communication of the mass of information available to modern organisations is key in the support of both tactical and strategic decision making processes. The module will introduce students to state of the art software that aids the visualisation, investigation and sharing of large and complex data sets.

The module provides students with the opportunity to read extensively and apply research and analytical skills to a chosen area of study. As part of this module, students produce a 15,000-word document that identifies and investigates a specific question(s) or a defined project in an area appropriate to their degree discipline over a sustained period.

This module explains what AI is and explores machine learning – the main driver of AI applications. Some simple machine learning algorithms and their implementation are considered to give a deeper insight into the machine learning process. The module explores current and future applications of machine learning in business environments, with a wide range of examples.

The aim of this module is to develop the strategic thinking and leadership skills required of students for managing the strategic contribution of digital technologies to organisational success and transformation. The module focuses on business transformation and addresses several key areas, including: Strategic Planning, Business Leadership, Change Management, Organisational Learning and Knowledge Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Digital business transformation is a highly contemporary subject in the business world, and the subject of many high profile consultancy projects in digital transformation. Developing effective leaders in this area who understand the complex interplay between technological, operational and business drivers in supporting digital transformation projects is crucial.
