Core modules will provide a grounding in theoretical models of public services, economics of public policy, and models of leadership, governance and finance. Options will allow you to study public administration in more depth – the use of evidence in public services, new models of public service delivery, and global challenges and solutions – and a number of contemporary policy issues, including housing, criminal justice, and poverty and inequality.
Face-to-face teaching takes place on campus in three or four short, intensive periods combined with regular lectures and seminars online throughout the academic year.

If you have a different background you may be admitted if you have relevant postgraduate study, research or professional experience.
Full-time fee: £10,250 per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
Part-time fee: £1709 per 30 credits studied. The fee per credit will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (eg no repeat years or breaks in study). The total amount you pay each year may differ based on the number of credits studied.
Full-time fee: £20,000 per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
Part-time fee: £3334 per 30 credits studied. The fee per credit will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (eg no repeat years or breaks in study). The total amount you pay each year may differ based on the number of credits studied.
A masters qualification typically comprises 180 credits, a PGDip 120 credits, a PGCert 60 credits, and an MFA 300 credits. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of study provided the course is completed in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
Optional estimate: £400
On commencing study on the MPA, you may wish to purchase a laptop, at an estimated cost of £400. For additional support, there are PCs on campus that are available for students to use, and there is also a scheme in the university that allows students to borrow laptops. For the purposes of drafting assignments and printing course reading materials (many of which are available electronically free of charge), students may wish to print certain materials. Assignments are submitted electronically, therefore there are no required/core printing costs attached to this course.
The course aims to provide you with the skills to progress to a leadership role in public services, whether that be in the public, voluntary or private sectors. It also prepares you to continue a career in undertaking research into the new public service landscape.
