Courts and Tribunals Judiciary Marshalling Programme

Our LLB and postgraduate students can observe a judge at a court. Known as marshalling, you’ll gain real insight into the daily workings of the court and how judges consider and manage cases. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend a talk with a judge, on-campus.

Ministry of Justice Graduate Aspiration Programme (GAP)

This one-to-one opportunity matches students from under-represented backgrounds with a mentor from the Civil Service. The programme aims to:

  • build your confidence and aspirations
  • support your future career choices
  • enhance your communication skills
  • provide networking opportunities
  • help you overcome barriers you feel may prevent you from achieving your goals

General mentoring programmes

We work in partnership with local law firms and associations, to help our students connect with law professionals. Having a mentor will give you valuable insight into the legal world, and provide a ‘head start’ in your career.

Gain mooting experience

We have a long and successful history of mooting. Our team enters national and international events yearly and has appeared before the Supreme Court.

You can also take part in internal competitions. These are delivered and judged in collaboration with several local chambers and firms. For more information visit the Law School blog.
