About us
We’re based in one of the UK's largest legal hubs, at the heart of a diverse and vibrant city.
About Manchester Law School
-
Digitally-engaged legal education
We place transformations in legal technology at the core of how we understand law, access to justice and social change.
Examples of our digital engagement include:
industry-recognised core units with external accreditations
technology projects on the LLB (Hons) degree
a new professional LLM (Master of Laws) degree that responds to technological transformations in legal and professional services
-
Social change through law
We develop socially-responsible professionals, who we encourage to make a difference through our Pro Bono network.
Every year, 450 student volunteers work with communities and businesses for positive social change.
Our researchers are passionate about making an impact. Their work addresses global challenges in key areas such as:
equalities and human rights
legal geographies and sustainability
transparency in corporate governance
-
Teaching that blends research and practice
Our legal academics bring years of practice experience and expertise from different sectors. They combine this with our research, which is at the cutting edge of its disciplines.
-
External engagement
Our students benefit from our outstanding links across a great global city, which provide:
support for our award-winning mooting and advocacy teams
extensive mentoring and networking opportunities
guest speakers on units
a wide-ranging Pro Bono offer, including qualifying work experience (QWE) opportunities.
-
A diverse and inclusive community
We’re an inclusive school, with a range of societies including the Black Law Students network and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Women in Law.
57.5% of our students are first-generation, and 53.7% are of BAME origin.
