Dr Ian Drew

My profile

Biography

I am an Earth Scientist with interests in geology and geomorphology.

After a degree in Geology & Physical Geography at the University of Hull I specialised in researching river water flow and sediment transport processes for my PhD at the University of St. Andrews.

Currently I am researching the effectiveness of the implementation of natural flood management, working with the City of Trees Organisation on Environment Agency funded projects on Crompton Moore above Oldham

More recently as a member of the Cheshire RIGS group I have become involved in Geoconservation - helping to protect sites of geodiversity value and raising awareness of Earth heritage with the public.

If you are a student on one of our courses at Manchester Met we will investigate the following types of topics together:

The structure and history of the Earth, and Earth materials including geological resources.
