Department of Life Sciences
Improving the lives and wellbeing of everyone around us.
About the department
I lead a team of dedicated academics who deliver excellent education and impactful research. We work with other higher education institutions and industry partners, forming collaborations that are greater than the sum of their parts.

Our research
We use a systems biology approach to investigate molecular, cellular and physiological mechanisms that influence health and active ageing across the lifespan. Our broad, cross-disciplinary research allows us to work with colleagues across the Faculty, University and beyond, including national and international collaborators on funded research.
Our recent research projects include:
-
Advanced additive manufacturing of user-focused facial prostheses with real-life colour reproduction
-
Investigating the influence of platelet-derived eicosanoids on NETosis during fungal infection
-
Defining the biochemical basis of endothelial cell-extracellular environmental signalling
