About us
Welcome to the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Explore who we are, what we do, and what you can study.
Departments
We are a research and education faculty offering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across five specialist departments.
Research
Our research areas
Our interdisciplinary research is helping the world solve big challenges and includes four major themes:
-
Health, sport and active aging
-
Clean energy and natural environment
-
Advanced materials and manufacturing
-
AI, digital and cyber physical systems
Our student experience
Student experience
Our diverse community is home to students from over 70 different countries.
Our students learn in a research-active environment and develop in-demand analytical and problem-solving skills. Our strong links with organisations across the world gives them opportunities to develop professionally while they learn.
We prepare our students for exciting, diverse careers and they are sought-after by employers. They go on to deliver sustainable futures, power the digital economy, work with athletes to deliver elite standards, support cardiac patients, discover new drug treatments, harness renewable energies and pioneer digital engineering.

An inclusive faculty
We’re committed to supporting inclusion. In 2023, the Department of Life Sciences gained an Athena Swan Bronze Departmental Award. All the other departments in the faculty are working towards achieving bronze awards.
The Athena Swan Charter is a global framework that supports and transforms gender equality in higher education and research.
Manchester Met also holds an institutional Bronze Athena Swan Award. Go to more information about equality, diversity and inclusion at Manchester Met.
