About the project
Developing our strategy
Over the past five years, we’ve become known as one of the UK’s top-rated universities for sustainability. We asked our communities to help set our ambition to make even greater strides over the next ten years, shaping our strategy to 2030.
Since the start of 2021, we’ve been engaging with students, staff, external partners, and local residents to help us shape our Leadership in Sustainability Strategy (2022-26). The strategy sets out how we’ll remain a leading sustainable university and help tackle the world’s environmental and societal challenges.
We carried out workshops, meetings, and surveys to allow our communities to share their thoughts on what we need to do to remain a leading sustainable university to 2030 and beyond. Our stakeholders’ comments and views were taken on board, along with further national and international commitments and targets, to develop the goals for our new strategy.
Engaging our students
We worked with our student sustainability ambassadors and MetMUnch students to develop this video. It was shared with all staff, students and the community to promote opportunities to contribute toward the strategy development.
Thank you for your contributions
Through the consultation, 150 colleagues and students attended one or more of our workshops, and we received nearly 400 survey responses. All of which helped us set priorities for our strategy.
Now that the strategy has been developed, our next task is to ensure that our students and staff understand how they can contribute towards its delivery. The Sustainability team will meet with departments and individuals across the University to deliver interactive workshops. These workshops will help our communities understand what they can do to embed sustainability in all they do.
