This course is designed to prepare you for studying our BSc (Hons) Sports Marketing Management degree.

You will learn more about business in a global and national context, and approaches to leading and managing in organisations. The foundation year also gives you a unique insight into the events, hospitality, sport and tourism Industries and the role these sectors play in the health and wellbeing of society.

This course is designed to prepare you for studying our BSc (Hons) Sports Marketing Management. It will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to study for an honours degree, even if you don’t currently meet the academic requirements.
Once you’ve passed, you’ll be ready to start your degree course. That means your degree will take four years, or five years if it includes a work placement or year studying abroad.
Throughout the full degree course you’ll learn what makes sports marketing so special. You’ll develop key skills in areas like brand management, digital marketing and commercial sponsorship.
The course prepares you for real life in the industry. So, you’ll complete practical projects like developing a sponsorship proposal, creating a digital marketing campaign or putting together a business plan for a new sports enterprise. To add even more to your CV, you can spend a year on placement with an employer, or go abroad to study at one of our partner universities.

UK and Channel Islands full-time foundation year fee: £9,535 for the 2025/26 academic year (subject to Parliamentary approval). On progression to any linked degree course, the standard UK and Channel Islands tuition fee would apply. For 2025/26, this is £9,535 (subject to Parliamentary approval). Fees for subsequent academic years may increase for inflation to reflect increased costs of course delivery (up to a maximum of 10% per academic year) and/or changes in UK government regulation. Inflationary increases will be calculated by reference to RPIx (RPIx is a measure of inflation in the UK). Fee increases are subject to limits imposed by UK government regulation.
EU and Non-EU international full-time foundation year fee: £20,000 per year. When progressing from the pre-degree foundation year to the linked degree. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study)
A degree typically comprises 360 credits, a DipHE 240 credits, a CertHE 120 credits, and an integrated masters 480 credits. For courses that offer a placement year option that starts in September 2025, the tuition fee is £1,907 (subject to Parliamentary approval). For courses that offer a study year abroad option that starts in September 2025, the tuition fee is £1,430 (subject to Parliamentary approval). Placement Year fees and study abroad fees for subsequent academic years may increase for inflation to reflect increased costs of course delivery (up to a maximum of 10% each academic year) and/or changes in UK government regulation. All of the books required for the course are available from the library. The University also has PC labs and a laptop loan service. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents. Campus printing costs start from 5p per page. Estimated costs are £300 for a laptop up to £100 each year for books and printing.

Money MattersIn the sports industry, the performance of the business behind the scenes is as important as the performance on the pitch. Revenues are generated from a broad range of activities from fan engagement and clothing to merchandise and sponsorship sales.
Health and fitness initiatives continue to be driven by government investment and commercial sponsorship. They have never been more important in ensuring that the health and wellbeing of our communities takes centre stage, with initiatives being driven increasingly by digital technology.
You could work at national agencies, governing bodies, health clubs and sports complexes, promoters, or media companies. There are also exciting careers in medicine, education, and research.
Some of our graduates have secured roles with major sports organisations like BBC Sport, England Netball, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and British Swimming. Others in roles at football clubs such as Chelsea, Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United.
