Studying Fashion Communication at Manchester Fashion institute will enable you to develop a holistic and in-depth understanding of all channels, their diverse nature, and how they can be best deployed to effectively reach the intended target audience in the current customer-centric, and digitally accelerated economy.
A multidisciplinary approach to learning communication techniques is taken and comprises the overall consideration of:
· Brand identity
· Fashion industry market positioning
· Consumer behaviour insight analysis
· Overall socio-political and economic macro market trends
The focus of this course is on the creativity behind the concept of the communication, with narrative and storytelling being common themes.
Alongside this strategic underpinning, students will produce creative communication solutions that are commercially viable and industry-aligned to the latest omnichannel communication trends. Developing a creative communication skill set enables students to produce visual outputs in a variety of different media including, moving image, graphic design, augmented and virtual reality. The programme promotes a flexible structure in which students have opportunities to become adept within analogue and digital visualisation methods. This will enable you to be proficient in generating and developing concepts and presentations using appropriate media software.
Students learn through teaching, experimentation and reflection and will be able to build upon skills and knowledge each year. Independent and group assessments encourage students to develop their abilities in creative and conceptual ideation, critical thinking, macro and micro research and commercial and cultural awareness. This will enable them to create informed and contemporary communication campaigns.

Full-time fee: £9,250 per year. This tuition fee is agreed subject to UK government policy and parliamentary regulation and may increase each academic year in line with inflation or UK government policy for both new and continuing students.
Full-time fee: £21,500 per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
A degree typically comprises 360 credits, a DipHE 240 credits, a CertHE 120 credits, and an integrated masters 480 credits. The tuition fee for the placement year for those courses that offer this option is £1,850, subject to inflationary increases based on government policy and providing you progress through the course in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study). The tuition fee for the study year abroad for those courses that offer this option is £1,385, subject to inflationary increases based on government policy and providing you progress through the course in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
All students on the fashion communication programme can expect to purchase materials, notebooks, and other supplies to undertake and complete assignments.

Research Trips
Adobe Creative Cloud. The university offers Adobe Creative Cloud as part of the on campus standard platform, however it is recommended that students purchase the student version of Adobe Creative Cloud to enhance their skills/practice during independent study.
Laptop (optional) The University also offers 24-hour computer suites, installed with the relevant software needed to complete the course. Whilst a personal laptop is beneficial, it is not essential as the library offer a laptop loan service. Estimated cost £500-£800.
Books/Editorials - estimated cost £50
Paper and printing costs are estimated from £100 upwards at Levels 4 and 5 and increase in Level 6 upwards to £150, dependant on students’ selections of media.
Students can participate in:
Optional national and/or international study trips, typically during L4 and L5. These are funded by students. Costings are sourced from university-approved agents and will vary in-line with the current market and student numbers. It is estimated that trips can cost between £350- £1000.
Optional Study Abroad (Exchange) at second year of study.
Study abroad is included in the standard university annual fee. However, there are usually additional costs for travel and accommodation. International funding may be available to apply for, dependent on country and international policy / governmental agreements in place at the time.
Optional Placements and/or Study Abroad between second and final year. Students are encouraged to obtain paid placements. Additional costs for travel/relocation, accommodation and subsidies to salary may be required depending on position, salary offer, duration and location. International funding may be available to apply for, dependent on country and international policy/governmental agreements in place at the time. There are fee implications if a student chooses to undertake a placement.

Money MattersOur graduates will have the commercial and creative marketing communication skills, with the broad breath of knowledge and confidence to adapt to the ever-changing fashion industry environment, where the customer is at the heart of every decision made.
They will go on to work in roles relevant to fashion communication practices, and will hold job titles such as Marketing Communications Executive, Brand Marketing Executive, Creative Executive, Influencer Executive, Social Media Executive, PR Executive, Campaign Co-Ordinator and Multichannel Marketing Executive.
