The world of work has changed dramatically, particularly since the global pandemic. Organisations have had to transform where and how they work within a very short space of time. Workplaces are increasingly diverse and technology is an integral part of work and working lives. Organisations need HR professionals to support them in navigating the complex world of work. This course equips you with the expertise to partner with organisations on their journey.
We’ve designed this course so that the modules align with the CIPD’s profession map. When you graduate, you can become a CIPD Associate Member and use the designation Assoc CIPD*. You may also be eligible to become a CIPD Chartered Member or CIPD Chartered Fellow, depending on your experience.
This course is open to graduates in any subject, as well as offering valuable skills to those already working in HR and are a looking to step up in your career. Whether you choose to study the PgDip or the full MSc, we’ll equip you with the skills for a wide mix of roles in the field.
*Please note: to be eligible for CIPD Associate Member status, you must already be a member of the CIPD. Students are responsible for paying your own CIPD membership joining fee and subscriptions. Please see details in the fees section below.
Rise with Manchester Met
Rise is a programme available to all students at Manchester Met giving you the opportunity to earn practice credits on your degree through employment-enhancing activities. During your studies you can collect points for the activities you engage in and if you engage in enough activity you could receive recognition on your degree transcript.
Postgraduate students can get involved in activities such as project work, workshops, volunteering and certifications. For example, you could gain certifications with the likes of Microsoft, Adobe and the Project Management Institute free of charge. Not only are these fantastic to have on your CV but they are also transferable to a wide range of careers.
All Rise activities are organised according to themes of Digital Capabilities, Self-Effectiveness, Sustainability, Internationalisation, Enterprise and Civics. Completing a number of activities within a certain theme will also earn you micro-accreditations in the form of Digital Badges.

You’ll need a UK honours degree – at least a 2:2 – or the international equivalent.
Overseas applicants will require IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in any category, or an equivalent accepted English qualification. Accepted English qualifications can be viewed here.
Full-time fee: £11,500 per year (MSc), £7,667 per year (PG Dip). Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).

In order to be eligible for CIPD Associate Member status at the end of your course, you'll need to be a member of the CIPD and pay CIPD membership fees (currently £40 joining fee and £109 membership fee per year, subject to annual review by the CIPD).

All of the books required for the course are available from the library. The University also has PC labs and a laptop loan service. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents. Campus printing costs start from 5p per page. Estimated costs are £300 for a laptop and up to £100 each year for books and printing.
