The programme will cover three key areas of study: Context and Policy - an examination of current understandings of health and wellbeing and their cultural and social implications; Co-Design - focusing on public engagement to develop best practices for new services and interventions; and Design Outcomes and Interventions - an exploration of the role of design-based outputs and methodologies to promote health throughout life, from childhood to old age.

A minimum of 2:1 Honours degree is required, completed within five years of the postgraduate course application. Equivalent EU/international qualifications are also accepted. Applicants who don’t meet these criteria but have experience in the field of design and/or health, will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Other professional qualifications or degree disciplines will also be considered on merit and/or with relevant professional experience.
Overseas applicants need to meet English language levels in line with the university requirements for postgraduate level: IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in any category, or an equivalent accepted English language qualification.
Full-time fee: £11,000 per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
Part-time fee: £1834 per 30 credits studied per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
Full-time fee: £20,500 per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
Part-time fee: £3417 per 30 credits studied per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).
A masters qualification typically comprises 180 credits, a PGDip 120 credits, a PGCert 60 credits, and an MFA 300 credits. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of study provided the course is completed in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).

Materials (compulsory): As the curriculum utilises project-based learning, students will undertake applied creative projects that will involve exploration of ideas in various materials, note and sketch books, production of visual materials, printing and mounting visual presentations, etc. This is in line with disciplinary norms and essential to communicate research and design activities.
Study Visits: Exposure to regional, national and/or international professional events or conferences enrich the student learning experience and would be encouraged but will be optional.
IT and Digital: Although not essential, a personal laptop enables students to conduct their studies more independently supporting collating and developing written and visual research, producing written submissions and presentations.
Competition Entry: Students may wish to enter design competitions and some competitions may require an entry fee.
Optional estimate: £500
Collaborative Projects: There may be opportunities to attend national/international collaborative projects which the students can chose to participate in. This may incur costs to the student including travel and subsistence although all effort would be made to secure funding from external partners where possible.
Field Research: Depending on the nature of students’ personal interests, they may choose to undertake field research that may incur travel, accommodation and subsistence costs.
Graduates of Design for Health and Wellbeing will possess the skills and characteristics needed for a variety of career paths, including product designer, design researcher/strategist, UX designer and design consultant. Beyond design fields, graduates will also be equipped to pursue careers as workshop managers, community art and outreach co-ordinators, wellbeing support workers and more.
