Opening times

We are open Monday - Friday from 10.00am - 4.00pm and closed on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

How to find us

We’re located within the Library, which is part of Manchester Metropolitan University. The entrance to the Library is on Oxford Road, opposite the Manchester Technology Centre.

Access to Special Collections is step-free. There is a ramp to the glass doors at the front of the Library which open automatically. Our learning space is located on the first floor in room 1.14 and our Reading Room is located on the second floor in room 2.11. All floors can be reached by stairs or passenger lifts.

Travelling to Special Collections

There is limited on-road parking and multi-storey car parks around the campus. Where possible, we encourage the use of public transport to travel to the campus. Oxford Road railway station is about a five-minute walk away and many buses stop on Oxford Road. For advice about travelling by foot, bicycle, public transport or car, visit the University’s travel pages.

Facilities and accessibility

There is level ground and step-free access throughout the Reading Room and Learning Space and the corridors leading to those spaces. There are toilets, including an accessible toilet, on the first and second floors. There is a Prayer Room and a Quiet Space on the second floor. The nearest cafe is on the ground floor of the Library, near to the entrance.

If you have access requirements, contact us before you visit so we can make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
