Overview
Our museum holds inspiring and unique collections and archives that tell stories of art, design and technology, and how they shape our lives. We believe that engaging with objects can be a powerful learning experience and this sits at the heart of what we do.
Our Reading Room is a quiet space to study our collections and archives up close. It’s open to staff and students at Manchester Met and to external researchers. Our dedicated teaching space can be booked by lecturers at Manchester Met and we hold sessions for groups from other universities, colleges and special interest groups. Student testimonial
As part of my Masters degree, I undertook a placement project with the Special Collections which formed the basis of my dissertation [for which I achieved a First]. The friendly and knowledgeable staff helped me to find interesting items from the collections for research, gave me guidance on my project and were always on hand to answer any questions. I would highly recommend using the Special Collections to find fascinating and unique resources to help create stronger assignments and achieve higher grades.
