What to expect on the course
Our pre-sessional English courses are intensive and full-time.
Each week, your online studies will include:
- up to 21 hours of tutor-led lessons
- interactive tasks including independent study and homework
- regular individual meetings with your tutor
The five, 10 and 20-week courses may cover:
- academic reading – identify key arguments, supporting evidence and bias
- academic writing – learn how to write an essay, including referencing and paraphrasing
- academic speaking – develop presentation and seminar skills
- academic listening – learn note-taking skills, identifying key information and supporting detail
- critical thinking – tell fact from opinion, consider the writer’s purpose for writing and identify weaknesses in arguments
- conversation practice – develop your spoken English by discussing a variety of topics
- pronunciation work on specific features of speech and how to make sounds more accurately
