About my career

I decided to study at Manchester Met because of the diversity of subjects, relevance to the industry and a passion for Manchester as a highly skilled city with a record of innovation.

My first job after graduating was as a Marketing Assistant - after many unsuccessful applications and interviews!

I am currently the Director of Marketing and Communications at Sampled SMART Labs, a US based life sciences company. My main responsibilities include global marketing, internal communications, communication strategy and tactics with an emphasis on digital lead generation.

The skills I gained at Manchester Met and which I have used the most in my career include integrated communication, project management and strategy - all highly transferable into my work.

Since graduating, I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

My top tip for students

Simply put - make decisions and get things done. It is much easier to apologise for doing something than doing nothing.
