I hold a number of additional therapeutic qualifications.
External examiner roles
I am the External Examiner for the University of West England’s Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.
Consultancy and advisory roles
I teach on the University of Manchester, Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DCounsPsych).
Practioner roles
I am a Chartered and HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist, with experience of working in a variety of NHS settings and in the education system. I am also an accredited clinical and training supervisor and a member of the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors.
As a former school teacher and SENCO I have extensive experience of working with children (and families of children) with emotional and behavioural difficulties. My current interests focus on the socio-political aspects of psychological therapy and social justice in relation to mental health.
I have worked with many women and men across the lifespan, who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect. I also have experience of working with clients who have chronic pain and physical health conditions including those that are medically unexplained. My preferred therapeutic approach is Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy (PIT) however I am also trained to work with Humanistic and CBT models.

Projects
I am currently working on my PhD project which aims to develop and explore multi-level psychotherapeutic approaches to working with women living with violence and distress. The project has been in partnership with Manchester Women’s Aid.
