Education partnerships
Training and developing teachers for over 100 years.
About us
Our teacher training partnership
We’ve been educating and delivering training to teachers and educational professionals for over 100 years.
We’re proud to be one of the largest teacher training providers in the country.
We work closely in partnership with over 500 schools and colleges in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire and Staffordshire. We also work with a small number of schools in Merseyside, Warrington and West Yorkshire. Our partnerships provide our student teachers with diverse and exciting placement opportunities.
Partner schools will work with student teachers on our programmes:
- BA (Hons) Primary Education/Primary Education with Mathematics
- PGCE Primary Education
- PGCE Secondary Education
We are continuously seeking to develop thriving educational partnerships in primary and secondary education phases.

Teaching experience and curriculum
Teaching experience is the cornerstone of our Manchester Met curriculum and we work together with our partner schools and student teachers to secure the best placements possible for them as individuals.
We are fully committed to prepare our student teachers to become highly skilled and reflective practitioners.
Our innovative and research informed curriculum supports our students in achieving the professional standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) by the end of our programmes.
We are committed to a process of continuous monitoring and review. The input and dialogue with our partners is a key driver for our improvement.

Why partner with Manchester Met?
By partnering with Manchester Met, you’ll be supporting the development of the next generation of teachers in the region.
Your teaching staff will be able to accelerate their own personal development, with access to a range of our professional development courses and mentor training from our specialist tutors.
You will also have access to our expertise within the faculty - we are continuously looking for opportunities to work with you to apply our research and knowledge and support your school.

Our current lead recruiting partners
We work in partnership with a number of lead recruiting partner schools for both primary and secondary education who we refer to as ManMetUni lead partner pathway schools.
Candidates apply to the lead recruiting partner school.
Candidates are interviewed by the lead recruiting partner school for the Manchester Metropolitan University PGCE. Lead recruiting partner schools attach the student teachers to two specified schools within their own partnership of schools during the PGCE year. All candidates follow the PGCE programme and attend all taught sessions at Manchester Met.
