Amanda Davis

My profile

Biography

I initially trained and worked as a primary school teacher, and worked with children in London in the early part of my career. I have worked in higher education for 23 years, teaching on a range of childhood studies and social care courses.

In my spare time I love to cook, garden and I dabble in a range of textile craft activities. I volunteer for a local community environmental group, and  I also enjoy walks with my dog and family in the countryside.

Teaching

Why do I teach?

I teach because I am inspired by people’s ideas and fresh approaches to looking at things. I love the way that students can sometimes help me see things from a different perspective, and I hope that I do the same for them. I love to feel that I make a small difference to individuals’ professional lives as they embark on their career, and am thrilled to be working with people - both colleagues and students - who are primarily concerned with children’s care and education.

How I’ll teach you

I like to use a range of different techniques when teaching, so expect the unexpected. I want students to participate fully in my classes, and am always happy for students to challenge ideas under discussion.
