Biography
Deputy Head of Department, Strategy, Enterprise and Sustainability, Faculty of Business and Law and Senior Lecturer teaching strategic management.
Responsible for the operational delivery of our portfolio of undergraduate, post graduate and apprenticeship programmes and the deployment of resources to deliver high quality learning and teaching. I am part of the Senior Management Team in SES striving to deliver excellent student experience in a collaborative team environment.
A senior lecturer, teaching most recently on Global Strategy, Level 6, as well as various units round fair trading law and business compliance strategies. I have held the role of Programme Leader for the BSc(Hons) Trading Standards, and more recently for BA (Hons) Business Management and BA (Hons) Business Management with Law programmes as well as supporting final year students as Year Manager.
Member of the CTSI Qualification Review Panel 2022 and a current Elected member of NW Branch, Chartered Institute of Trading Standards Executive. Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Consultant / Trainer on National Trading Standards Board regional projects for many years.

Projects
I have delivered short courses within MMU on a variety of topics to Trading Standards professionals as well as delivery of training on civil law topics for a range of UK Local Authorities.
I have also been invited to participate in National Trading Standards Board projects relating to improvement of business compliance and performance, working with businesses and Local Authorities in the North of England.
I have been an elected member of the Executive of the NW Branch of the Trading Standards Institute to co-ordinate training for Local Authority Trading Standards professionals in the NW region since 2002.
Teaching
My teaching has focussed most recently around strategy, leading on from more niche elements of Consumer Protection Strategies and civil aspects of fair trading and consumer protection law and regulatory frameworks.
I have been part of the teaching teams on the following unit Level 6 Global Strategy and Level 5 Responsible Enterprise in recent years and multiple units around compliance strategy, and fair trading law for many years.
Research outputs
Jills previous research has focussed on commercial law topics including the use of contractual terms and conditions, in particular in relation to the caravan industry - static caravans and associated pitch licences required by site owners and the potential unfair nature of those terms per the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999, (Consumer Rights Act 2015).
More recently, Jill has undertaken a study of small business enterprise relatoinships with business associations.
