The Tony Warren Bursary

Introduction
An opportunity for funding of up to £45,000 for undergraduate actors. Check if you’re eligible, and how to apply.
- Value: £15,000 per year to cover fees, the remainder paid as a cash bursary over three instalments.
- Study level: Undergraduate — new, full-time students in their first year only
- Eligible courses: BA (Hons) Acting
- Applications:
You can only apply for this scholarship if you’ve accepted your offer of a place at Manchester Met.
Deadlines for applying:
- Apply for your course by 31 January 2024.
- If we offer you a place, you must apply for the scholarship by 15 June 2024.
Aim of the scholarship
The Tony Warren Bursary was set up by ITV studios in memory of the late Tony Warren MBE, and aims to foster acting talent from the Northwest of England. It gives eligible recipients from disadvantaged backgrounds the financial means to support themselves throughout their three-year acting course.
Check if you can apply
To apply, you must:
- have accepted a place to study on the BA (Hons) Acting course in the 2024/25 academic year
- be from the North West of England*
- have a household income of £30,000 or less. We’ll check this against your student finance application. Please contact us if you will not be applying to student inance for a maintenance loan.
- demonstrate a commitment to the course of study.
*The counties of Lancashire, Cumbria, Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester, as defined by the Office for National Statistics.

How to apply
You’ll need to:
- complete the application form. Applications open on 1 January 2024.
You must apply by 15 June 2024. We will not consider late applications.
After you have applied:
- a university panel will review applications
- the panel will nominate a maximum of three eligible students to be put forward for the bursary
- nominated students will attend an audition and an interview with the ITVS Bursary Committee in July - August 2024.
Students from other drama schools can apply for the bursary. We cannot guarantee that a Manchester Met student will receive it.
