Social work opportunities at Manchester Met
When you graduate from your course, you’ll be eligible to apply for professional registration with Social Work England and then practice as a registered social worker in settings including:

This is a very rewarding career where you’ll play a vital role in supporting people and empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities will include:
- assessing patient needs.
- working together with individuals and other professionals to develop treatment plans.

Child and Family Social Worker
In this important career, you’ll be responsible for:
- providing support and intervention to vulnerable families to make sure they have what they need to thrive.
- working alongside parents and other professionals to keep children safe and well.
You may also work in fostering or adoption, to secure safe and supportive environments for children.

Adult Social Worker
Have a positive impact on many people’s lives by working with individuals that are facing complex issues. Your responsibilities could include:
- undertaking safeguarding
- carrying gout needs assessments
- performing risk assessments
- supporting people to make decisions that are in their best interest, where they cannot do so themselves
