How much you pay for tuition will depend on:
- what you study
- and your tuition fee status
Your tuition fees will normally stay the same for each year of your degree.
If your immigration status changes during your studies, you may be eligible for a tuition fee adjustment according to new regulations effective August 2024. For more details, please refer to the changes to tuition fee rules.
If you take a break from your studies, your tuition fees may go up when you return.
Tuition fee status
We will assess your tuition fee status using information from your application form. And we will classify you as either:
- UK and Channel Island Students
- EU and Non-EU International Students
UK university fees for EU and non-EU international students will be different to the fees UK and Channel Island students will pay for the same course.
Although we consider all the information you provide, the two of the most important factors we look at are:
- your nationality or where you have the right to live
- and where you have been living for the last three years.
We make our decision using guidance from the UK Council for International Student Affairs.
On 23rd June 2020, the UK Government confirmed that EU, EEA and Swiss nationals will no longer be eligible for home fee status or tuition fee loans/financial support for programmes starting in academic year 2021-22.
As a result of this, EU, EEA and Swiss nationals starting a programme from the academic year 2021-22 onwards will be charged fees at the international tuition fee rate.
This tuition fee change does not affect EU, EEA and Swiss nationals benefiting from UK citizens’ rights under the respective withdrawal agreements. It also does not apply to Irish nationals living in the UK or Ireland, whose right to study and to access benefits and services will remain under the Common Travel Area arrangement.
EU, EEA and Swiss nationals paying international tuition fees will be eligible for our international scholarships.
