The new building marks the culmination of a decade worth of investment to transform the City centre campus

Manchester Metropolitan University’s new state-of-the-art Dalton building has been formally handed over to the University. 

This is a significant milestone in the University’s Estates Masterplan and marks the culmination of a decade worth of investment to transform the City campus into the world-class estate it is today.

The Dalton building is the largest project ever undertaken at the University to date and is a direct investment into STEM education and research in key strategic areas including health and wellbeing, sustainable energy, advanced materials and manufacturing, and Artificial Intelligence.

Andrew Fallon, Chief Property Officer, said: “This is a landmark day for our University as we officially take possession of the Dalton Building - the largest capital project in our history. This state-of-the-art facility provides world-class laboratories, teaching spaces and research hubs and position us as a global leader in learning, research and industry collaboration. Congratulations to all who helped make this ambitious vision a reality. The future of science and engineering in Manchester starts now.”

Professor Mark Sterling, Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Science and Engineering, said: “This is a momentous time for our faculty as we prepare for the move to the Dalton building. The building is incredibly impressive, and we look forward to bringing our new building to life through collaboration and new ways of working to further deliver excellent research with impact and providing an outstanding student experience.”
