Manchester Metropolitan’s Centre for Decent Work and Productivity has been named Partner of the Year at the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter Awards.

The annual Good Employment Awards, organised by the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, celebrate outstanding employment practices; promoting standards, inclusivity and fairness across the region.

Our Centre for Decent Work and Productivity engages with organisations and policymakers to inform how workplaces develop productive and supportive environments. Their expertise spans various areas, including health, wellbeing, equality at work, employment charters, and effective line management.

The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter praised the work of the Centre, saying: “Manchester Metropolitan is not only a Member of the Charter, but they have become ‘missionary-like’ advocates for it – spreading the message of good work far and wide through their own extensive networks. They have been essential and constant companions on the Charter’s journey.”

Dr Katy Jones, Head of the Centre for Decent Work and Productivity, said: “This award is an incredible honour and recognises our commitment to promoting productive and supportive work environments through rigorous research and collaboration with organisations and policymakers. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team and we look forward to continuing our efforts to advance health, wellbeing, and equality in the workplace.”

The awards also brought recognition for our People and Development (POD) team, who were Highly Commended in the Best for Employee Engagement (Large Employer) category for our dedicated efforts in reviewing the starting grades in our pay and grading structure and enhancing pay and terms and conditions in collaboration with colleagues and trade unions.

Pam Flynn, Chief People Officer, said: “I am thrilled that our team has been highly commended in the ‘Best for Employee Engagement, Large Employer’ category. This acknowledgment reflects our continuous efforts to improve pay, terms, and conditions for our colleagues as part of our Great Place to Work Strategy and recognises our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all.”
