Manchester Met top 15 in England for outstanding NSS results

Manchester Metropolitan University has reinforced its reputation for delivering an outstanding student experience following the release of the latest National Student Survey data which shows it is in the top 15 in England and second best in the North West*.

The University improved across every single theme, improved more than the sector on every single theme and is now above the sector on every single theme.

It shows that students are more positive than ever about their experience at the University, with Manchester Met also the top university in Greater Manchester in the National Student Survey (NSS)*.

The amazing results come on the back of Manchester Met being awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework, the national scheme run by the Office for Students (OfS) that aims to encourage higher education providers to improve and deliver excellence in the areas that students care about the most: teaching, learning and achieving positive outcomes from their studies.

Professor Andy Dainty, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education at Manchester Met said: “These National Student Survey results are fantastic. They are no fluke – they are the result of the hard work of colleagues in the University to ensure our students have the best possible teaching and learning experience.

“These results reinforce our TEF Gold outcome and again demonstrate that we are an outstanding university for our students. And with the NSS this is our students telling us we deliver an excellent learning and teaching experience.”

The survey has seven core thematic areas: Learning opportunities; Marking and assessment; Academic support; Organisation and management; Learning resources; and Student voice. Each area has between two and five specific questions.

A particular highlight is a large percentage increase in the University’s Student Voice theme showing the value of creating the channels we have to listen and learn from our students about their experience at Manchester Met, and a high score for Marking and Assessment, again demonstrating the support given by academics to students during their studies.
