Using Images

Images are subject to copyright.

This includes photographs and illustrations taken from books and journals as well as images available online. 

It is important when using images to give full attribution to the original source.

Finding Images

Images are available in many of the Library’s books and journals. You can use Library Search to locate these resources.

However, a number of search engines are available that can locate different types of images.  These include:

  • Google image search
  • Europeana - millions of images, films and archival material from galleries, museums, archives from across Europe.
  • Flickr: The Commons - project to make photographs available online from the archives of cultural institutions around the world
  • Pixabay - all images on the site are available and free to reuse without attribution
  • TinEye - reverse search engine.  You can upload an image to find information on where that image has been used and
