Introduction

We will borrow print books and digital copies of articles or book chapters we don’t have from another library through an inter-library loan (ILL). If we can’t supply an item via ILL we may try to purchase a copy to add to Library stock.

Complete the correct form from the links below and provide as much information as possible.  You’ll need your MMU ID and password to access these forms. For non-standard types of material (eg complete journal issues, theses not available via Ethos, DVDs) please use the book form.

Sometimes we can’t fulfil requests due to availability, copyright restrictions, cost, size and condition of materials, but we will let you know of any issues.

How will I get my request?

Articles and book chapters

We can borrow articles and book chapters through inter-library loans. They’ll be emailed to you as a PDF. Since signing up to the RapidILL sharing system, we can now supply most of your requested articles and chapters in one working day or less. But try and leave plenty of time to submit your request.

Books

We can borrow books through inter-library loans. ILL books take around 8-10 days to arrive by post (but some can take longer). We’ll email you when it’s ready for collection.

If we can’t get a book via ILL, we’ll look to purchase a copy for our collection. Ebooks will be available in a couple of days via Library Search. We’ll email you when it’s ready. If it’s a print book, we’ll let you know when it’s ready for collection. The purchase process can take up to 4-6 weeks for print books.

Theses

UK theses are available through EThOS.

You can use our online form to request a thesis not in EThOS.
