Journals and magazines

Journals and magazines are great sources for research. Many are peer-reviewed and contain top-quality academic information.

The Library has a vast collection with many titles available online or in print.

Some of our older journals are now stored off-site. You can order specific articles using our scan and deliver service.

If you are looking for articles, a good place to start is Library Search. Here, you can use keywords to find specific articles. Once you have run a search, you can limit the results by selecting “Article” under “Format.”

You can also check your subject guide for databases that allow you to search for journal articles in specific disciplines.

Print journals

In the Library, the current print journals display can be found on the ground floor in room 32.

Older issues of titles A-G are located in the same room as the current journals display.

Titles H-Z are located in room 22, alongside the Click and Collect shelves.

Please note that journals cannot be borrowed and must be used in the Library only.

Online journals

A quick way to check if we have access to a journal online is to search for the title on our Ejournals A-Z list

Type in the name of the journal or magazine and select “Search”.

If available, you find the full text of the journal, as well as details about the volumes and years available online.

Using Library Search

Journals and magazines are also listed on Library Search as some of our titles are only available in print.

Enter the title of the journal and run the search.

Now, under “Format”, select “Journal, Magazine”.

This will then show if the journal is available in print or online form as well as the years available.
