How to request and borrow

Click and Collect

You can request print books online using our Click and Collect service.

Follow the step-by-step guide below to make your request. You may also need your Manchester Met ID to borrow any items.

  1. Go to Library Search to find print books and other items you can borrow.
  2. Select the item you require and then select “Reserve item”.
  3. If prompted, sign in to Library Search using your Manchester Met ID and password and select “Submit”. If the book you need is on loan, you’ll be added to a queue.
  4. Initially, the status of your request is set to “Not ready for pick up”.
  5. When the book is available for collection, the status will change to “Ready for pick up” and you will receive a confirmation email.
  6. Items will be available for pick up for seven days.
  7. If we don’t have what you need, you can use the Request It! service

You can borrow most items for two weeks and they’ll be renewed automatically, unless they are reserved by someone else.

Item borrowing limits

  • Students (undergraduate and taught postgraduate): 30 items
  • Staff and researchers: 30 items
  • External users: 10 items

A maximum of 10 items can be reserved or requested through Click and Collect at any time.
