About Us
The University has a varied range of food and drink outlets across campus, including:
- a small pop-up trailer serving barista hot drinks in John Dalton East.
- multiple food courts featuring external vendors.
- a contemporary restaurant and bar cooking delicious brunch dishes and main meals in Grosvenor building.
We understand that buying from local suppliers means that we can cut down our food miles whilst bringing our customers fresh food that tastes better and is better for the planet. We strive to achieve this wherever possible and ensure our suppliers have high standards in everything they do, from the food, service, hygiene, people, and supply chains.
In 2024 the Food and Drink Team achieved 3 out of 3 stars for the first time for the Sustainable Restaurant Association Food Made Good Award. This award covers 12 impact areas under the 3 branches ‘Sourcing, Society, and Environment’. The team achieved over 94% in 2 out of the 3 sections, and over 85% in the other, which showcases all the positive changes that have happened since the last award submission in 2022.
The Food Made Good standard is the world’s largest food & beverage sustainability accreditation spanning over 73 countries and 6 continents. Achieving 3 stars shows to staff, customers, and suppliers that Manchester Met cares more than ever about sustainability and signals that we are a progressive business aiming to do the right thing for people and the planet.
