About my career
The UK has proved that it reached the highest level of education with numerous well-known universities. I had a scholarship with the conditions that the university must fulfil, and Manchester Met satisfied all conditions. Moreover, the most important aspect for me is that Manchester Met has a good place in Computer Science in world university rankings.
My first and current job after graduating is as a Cyber Security Analyst at one of the Ministries in Turkey. I was holding a scholarship that opened the doors for me. Within my role, I am defending systems and networks against hackers and inside-outside threats. As a Cyber Security Analyst, I manage security products, analyse alarms, and take necessary actions.
The skills I gained at Manchester Met and which I have used most in my career so far are critical thinking, research, and of course cyber security related skills. It may sound surprising but the essential skill I gained during my studies was critical thinking.
Alongside my studies I used English classes that the University provided for International Students. Also, there were various social events that made students relaxed.
After graduating and getting my job, I have always been trying to seek good additional training. I keep myself updated with recent developments in Cyber Security.
My top tip for students
My top tip is to set up a home lab where you can experience Cyber Security and build your skills which could leverage your career.
I’m inspired by
My supervisor during Master Project, Amna Eleyan. In addition to her encouragement, guidance, and support during my Project, she has been helping me to publish academic papers.
Why I love Manchester Met
I appreciated the organisation since it made me feel valuable during my time at Manchester Met.
