ABOUT MY CAREER
I always knew I wanted to come to Manchester to study, and Manchester Met was a great choice.
My degree included a placement year in Leeds for CPM UK, a multi-national advertising organisation. After graduating, my first job was working for a company called Doorbell World, who sold bespoke doorbells on major online retail platforms. My responsibilities included marketing and helping around the office on numerous, smaller jobs. I used a career counsellor to help with graduate roles, but it was only two years after graduating that I really found my footing.
In my current position at Accenture, I serve as a Data Analysis, focusing on developing automations that yield long-term cost savings for our clients. Additionally, I specialize in Generative AI, contributing to the formulation of the Data and AI strategy for our Northwest Office and taking on the role of Events Lead for our Technical Analyst Group.
Beyond my primary responsibilities, I also assume the role of Community and Engagement Lead for our Manchester office. In this capacity, I recently organised an event that welcomed 15 students from Manchester Met into our office. The students participated in a diverse range of activities and talks spanning all service groups within our business, including a leadership breakfast, a Data & AI panel, career stories from analysts, and group sessions led by some of our managing directors.
This is all while studying towards a Masters in Applied Data Analytics as part of an apprenticeship programme.
The skills I gained at Manchester Met and which I have used most in my career so far are learning how businesses work and how to create transformations using project-driven frameworks. Since graduating, I am constantly taking AI and cloud computing courses. I cannot stress enough how important it is to upskill within this rapidly evolving technical field.
MY TOP TIP FOR STUDENTS IS
Get experience in the field you would like to go down, whether that is courses you can take, volunteering, or going to events. It will all help your professional career. And DO NOT be afraid of rejection - it is a normal part of life.
I’M INSPIRED BY
Technical leaders who are charismatic and creative.
WHY I LOVE MANCHESTER MET
The community of lifelong friends I have created.
