Dr Laure Leglise

My profile

Biography

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Strategy and Sustainability at the Department of Strategy, Enterprise and Sustainability at Manchester Metropolitan University. I joined MMU in September 2023. Prior to that role, I was a Research Fellow at Catolica Lisbon School of Business and Economics in Lisbon. I conducted my doctoral research at Paris Dauphine University.

My research critically investigates the dual role of businesses as both contributors to, and potential solvers of, social and environmental issues, such as poverty alleviation, social inequalities,  climate change or loss of biodiversity. In particular, I am interested in the intersection of the social and the environmental dimensions of sustainability, using for instance the concept of environmental justice. Methodologically, I use qualitative approaches, such as case studies and critical discourse analysis, within a critical perspective. My research covers different industries, including fashion,  banking and financial services, the energy sector and business and management education. Theoretically, my work draws from different theories, incorporating theoretical insights from human geography and international relations.
