Funding of up to £8,000 for a fine art or painting graduate from the Manchester School of Art who is passionate about continuing to develop their professional practice.

The scholarship is designed to help you in making a lasting impact on the local arts scene with a studio fully embedded within the wider artistic community in Manchester.

  • Value:  £8,000 paid in three instalments over one year.

About this scholarship

Aim of the Scholarship 

Supported by the Haworth Charitable Trust, this Studio Scholarship aims to support the recipient to further develop their professional practice in the year following their graduation. It will cover the cost of acquiring studio space and materials, and give the recipient time to develop their practice and build relationships with fellow artists.

To apply, you must:

  • be graduating from the BA (Hons) Fine Art, MA/MFA Fine Art or MA/MFA Painting course at the Manchester School of Art in summer 2024.
  • wish to focus on a professional practice in painting in Manchester for 2024/25

  • add a link to your digital portfolio. You can use your admissions portfolio, but it’s a good idea to update it with your latest work.

You must apply by 10 November 2024. We will not consider late applications.  

If we get a lot of applications, we may ask you to do an interview.
