Alumni loyalty discount for postgraduate courses

How it works

If you’ve previously completed a course at Manchester Met, you may be eligible for a discount of up to 20% on tuition fees for a new postgraduate course.

Who is eligible

Whether you get our alumni loyalty discount depends on:

what you’ve already studied
which postgraduate course you do

Courses you’ve already studied

To qualify, you must have completed one of our:

foundation degrees
undergraduate degrees
postgraduate taught masters degrees (e.g. MA, MSc, LLM etc.)
postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE)
graduate diploma in law (GDL)

We don’t offer a discount if you studied a higher national diploma (HND) with us.

Eligible postgraduate courses

You can get the alumni loyalty discount on most of our taught postgraduate courses.

We do not offer the discount for:

postgraduate research masters such as MPhil and masters by research
PGCE
MArch
integrated undergraduate-masters degrees, such as MChem and MEng
and a small number of other courses

You must meet the entry requirements for your chosen course.

How much discount you’ll get

If you start an eligible course in the 2024/25 academic year, you’ll get a 20% discount.

How to apply

There are two ways to get the discount, depending on when you graduated from Manchester Met.

If you graduated in 2009 or after, we’ll apply the discount automatically and you’ll receive a confirmation email prior to the start of term.

If you graduated before 2009, email [email protected] for advice.

Terms and conditions
Full course fees are displayed during online enrolment. Discounts will be applied once your invoice has been processed.
Eligibility criteria
Eligible alumni receive a 20% discount (not applicable to commercial contracts) on their taught postgraduate tuition fees when they start one of our eligible full-time or part-time postgraduate taught courses in the academic year 2024/25.
We review all discounts each year, and may change or remove them. If you start a course of more than one academic year, you may continue to receive a discount each year (which will be in line with the value of the scheme applicable for the academic year they started their course) provided the course is completed in the original agreed timeframe.
To receive the discount, you must be a graduate of an eligible Manchester Met degree who has applied to an eligible taught masters programme at Manchester Met.
We do not apply the alumni loyalty discount to postgraduate research courses, PGCE, MArch, integrated undergraduate masters degrees including MChem and MEng, and a small number of other specific courses.
If you are an externally enrolled student, you will be eligible if you graduated with a Manchester Met undergraduate degree.
Sponsored students
We award discounts to both self-funding students (based on the amount payable by the student) and external sponsors (based on the amount payable by the external sponsor) only (excluding government/NHS agencies grants and bursaries).
If the fees are payable by both you and an eligible external sponsor, such as an employer, the external sponsor can choose to waive their eligibility for an alumni discount. If this is the case, the external sponsor should email [email protected] to advise the University of their decision as soon as possible, quoting your full name, course and Manchester Met ID number. We will allocate the full alumni discount entitlement to your proportion of the fees for the duration of the course.
Calculating the discount
We will reduce the discount if you leave the course which results in a fee reduction. Please refer to the regulations for the payment of university fees.
With the exception of our merit awards, alumni will only be eligible for one Manchester Met award, discount, scholarship or initial discounted tuition fee. We will apply whichever award gives you the greatest discount.
If you are eligible for both a Manchester Met merit award and an alumni discount, we will apply the merit award to your annual tuition fee. We will calculate the alumni discount on your remaining balance.
