Open days are the perfect opportunity to experience life at Manchester Met, and find out what it’s like to study at university in Manchester. There are lots of options available on the day, so it’s a good idea to plan what you want to experience in advance. Here are some tips:

  • Use your open day planner, in the back of the open day guide, to decide which talks to attend.
  • Think of questions you might have for tutors and students - they might be about what you’ll study on the course, settling in to university life, or anything else that’s on your mind.
  • Each of our university halls of residence has its own unique character. Have a look around the accommodation and see which one feels right for you.
  • There’s more to university than lectures - visit the Students’ Union to discover clubs and societies and find out about the social side.
  • Manchester is one of the UK’s great student cities. Make sure you take time to explore

Testimonial

Open days are well worth joining. They give you a real insight into the University as a whole and the resources that’ll be there for you if you apply. My top tip would be to see which talks you want to attend for specific subjects and build your day around that. Or see if you can talk to a student or lecturer.

How to plan your day

  • Plan your journey

Travelling to Manchester Met couldn’t be easier. The city has great road links, and is well served by public transport. Our campus is within walking distance of central Manchester and has good a bus and tram service. If you’re coming from further afield, Manchester International Airport is just ten miles (16 km) from the University, with fast and frequent rail travel to the city centre.

Once you’re here, you can hop on a free shuttle bus that covers the main city centre areas. It links the central railway stations and car parks, and connects with the many bus and Metrolink tram stops.

  • Registration

Start your day by letting us know that you have arrived.

If you book in advance, we willpost or email you a personal ticket. Bring this to our registration point by the Business School entrance.

Once you’ve checked in, one of our student ambassadors will direct you to your first activity.  Don’t panic if you can’t arrive exactly at 10am - there are plenty of activities on offer and staff and student ambassadors to speak to, so you can still get a lot from your day.
