Entry requirements

We advise you to check for any additional subject/course specific requirements before submitting your application.

If you have these qualifications, that doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to get the place you want. We look at each application individually.

Foundation

You must have:

Overall pass of 2.8 GPA from High School Diploma.

Undergraduate

Overall pass of 2.8 GPA from High School Diploma

Plus one of the following:

SAT – minimum between 600 and 650 in each component.

OR
AP tests – between 333 and 444.

OR

ACT – composite score between 26 and 28.

OR

Successfully complete 1 year of university / college / Associate Degree with GPA 2.8 or above.

Undergraduate advanced entry and top-up degrees

You can apply to join a bachelor’s degree course at Manchester Met in its second year if you have completed a relevant Associate Degree or two years of university.

We may also consider entry to final year or top-up on completion of three years of university.

Advanced entry is subject to mapping.

Postgraduate

You must have a bachelor degree awarded by a university that is officially recognised in your country.

We typically require a GPA between 2.8 – 3.5.

English language requirements

You need to have a recognised English language qualification to study at Manchester Metropolitan.

The score required will vary depending on the qualification and the area of study you have chosen. If you hold an offer of a place from the University, your offer will give you the specific requirements for your course. 

Typical International English Language Testing System (IELTS) requirements are:

  • 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent for undergraduate courses
  • 6.5 (no less than 5.5 in any section) or equivalent for postgraduate courses

  • Visa requirements

    You will need a visa to study in the UK unless you:

    • are a British citizen
    • are a citizen of a European Economic Area (EEA) member state or Switzerland
    • have a visa to stay in the UK for another purpose that allows you to study. This might be because you are the husband, wife, partner or child of someone in the UK and have a dependent visa.

Fees and Funding

  • Tuition fees for 2024/2025 courses

    Taught courses

    You can use our online prospectus to check tuition fees for individual courses.

    Some courses may have additional costs, for example for field trips, equipment, materials or professional / statutory body registration fees. Estimates are provided in the course listings. We will confirm fees as part of your offer.

    Undergraduate taught courses

    • If we classify you as an EU or Non-EU International student, you will normally pay between £18,500 – £20,000.

    Postgraduate taught courses 

    • If we classify you as an EU or Non-EU International student, you will normally pay between £18,500 – £22,500.

  • Living costs

    It sounds obvious, but your living costs really depend on your lifestyle – how you want to spend your free time.

    We suggest you budget to spend at least £6,000 for the academic year, in addition to your accommodation costs and tuition fees. Around £9,000 will help you enjoy more of the sights and attractions that Manchester and the UK has to offer.

If you are currently studying at university in your home country and would like to experience studying in the UK, Manchester Metropolitan University can offer you a range of opportunities.

If there’s an existing student exchange arrangement with your home university, you may be able to study with us as an exchange student. You can see the list of our exchange partners in your country below.

If we don’t have an agreement with your home university, you can still study with us independently through our Study Abroad programme and International Summer Schools.
