Pre-University and Foundation Courses
At Manchester Metropolitan, we offer a range of courses to prepare you for university study. These will give you the level of knowledge you need to get a place with us.
If you do not meet the entry requirements for our undergraduate or postgraduate courses, there are several options available to you.
As well as a foundation year, you may also be able to take preparation courses that lead on to the second year of undergraduate study and to postgraduate programmes.

English language
To study at Manchester Metropolitan as an international student, you must be able to show you have a good command of English.

Pathway programmes in partnership with INTO Manchester
You can choose to study for your Foundation Year, International Year One or Master’s Preparation Programme at our partner international study centre INTO Manchester.
You will study with other international students and at the end of your course you will be ready to start your degree at Manchester Met.
This study route will give you:
- a quality assured, university-recognised programme
- guaranteed progression to your undergraduate degree at Manchester Met if you are on the MMU pathway and meet the published progression criteria
- experienced and well-qualified teachers
- high contact hours and small class sizes
- regular testing to monitor your progress and help you achieve your goals
- professional support and guidance with university applications
- multiple start dates which let you choose when you start your programme
